How to tell what graphic cards work with a motherboard

I have a custom pc now but I had someone pick out all the parts and help me put gather and now I want to do one by myself but before I go out and just buy the parts I want to make sure I know how everything goes togetherand be able to tell what's compatible with what already figured out how to tell what processor and RAM I can put in it but now I'm stuck on the graphics card

almost all cards today need one pci express x16 (preferable 3.0), if your mobo has one slot like this (most probably it does) then it will work

It has 2 PCI exspress x16 and 3 PCI express X1

the x16, x8, x1 is the lenght of the slot
if your mob has 2 x16 slots then you can sli or corssfire 2 card if you like(assuming your psu can handle it)
