I installed windows on a hard drive that I had that is only 80GB. Its the only one I have and was planning to get a new 1TB one. I was wondering what it takes to transfer windows over to the new one im getting.

2 options: Cloning, or Clean install

1. Clone - Going from a small drive to a much larger one is usually pretty easy.
Macrium Reflect will do this easily.

2. Clean install - How, depends on where your current OS came from.
Where did it come from?

I didnt come from anything, its a new computer and installed windows 10 itself

Try the linked application, Macrium Reflect. Free and easy.
Click, click, wait, done.
Yes, I have used this.

Is this a laptop or Desktop?

Im using a desktop

USAFRet - good info, thanks for all of your answers. I'm doing a similar migration, except that mine is from an 8tb He8 Helium HDD to a M.2 drive, and I'm upgrading drives just for boot speed. Can I do a clean install on the new drive? I purchased Windows 10 Pro 64 bit from Amazon, so I've got the same install key that I used when I built this system a few weeks ago. Will that work for a clean install on the same desktop but with a new drive?

Thanks for the help, and thank you for your service to our country!

Clean install, on a new drive in that same system, will work no problem.
And thank you!

And if you already had Win 10 activated in that system, you did not need to buy it again.
