How to transfer Xbox data

I have a friend who wants to how to transfer his xbox one save data to an xbox one x. Im not familiar with xbox but i saw that your save data is saved on the cloud and will automatically upload. he is selling his console before buying a new one and wants to make sure he has his save data. Will this work xbox one to series x? Do you have to enable cloud saves or some other prerequisite?

You can transfer your all Xbox data in few steps. Press the Xbox button and follow Settings > System > Storage. This time, highlight your hard drive's storage, and select transfer. Press Select all to transfer your games.

I believe most One games do use cloud to store game saves but not all do, especially if it’s an older 360 game. The best thing to do would be to buy an external USB 1TB HDD and copy all games across. This will also be much quicker than having to re-download game files, DLC and updates if installing all from new.
