My start menu is ****ked and I think that cortana might be the root of the problem since it is not in my task manager. Does anyone know how to activate cortana via CMD or windows key+r? Any help would be MUCH appreciated thank you.

Solution

Did you try restarting?

If you are logged into a Microsoft account, you should be able to turn on cortana, if you live in an area that has cortana, simply by pressing Windows+S and then running the setup.

If restarting and the above doesn't work, you'll need to repair Windows.
You don't. Cortana needs a Microsoft account login to work, and is part of the system, not some extra app you can call.

If you mean access the search, Windows+s opens the search box. If Cortana was enabled that functionality will be available in the search box.

the problem is that cortana is not running in my task manager. And the start menu won't even work at all plus any search functions which annoys me. I was wondering about how I could turn cortana back on.

okay so windows+s is not working for me since the search is broken so are there any exe's that I can simply windows key+r and run?

No. You have bigger issues than cortana to sort out. Try running sfc /scannow to see if you have a fixable system corruption. If it can't repair it and restarting doesn't help, it's time to reinstall windows
