I am currently running an Asus z97-p Motherboard.

How do I update the bios on this motherboard?

Solution
If you need to ask, you should not update the bios.
A failed update can render your motherboard useless.
If you have a problem that is seriously hurting, and if there is a update that fixes the problem, only then should you update.

There are different methods, but I do not recommend using a windows based update procedure. Too many things can go wrong.
You should be able to download the new bios to a fat32 formatted usb stick.
You then use that to do the update.

I am asking this since my computer keeps krashing when i am playing games and sometimes even updating windows.

When i called the company i got the parts from, they recomended to update my bios!

I think you were given bad advice.

Run cpu-Z. It will tell you what your motherboard is, and what the bios level is.

Go to the motherboard web site and see what bios updates are available and what they fix.
Most updates are minor and to identify new cpus. Possibly, to improve ram operation.

Run memtest86+ to see if your ram is ok.

Failure under load may be a symptom of a defective psu or graphics card.
