1. Per licensing from Microsoft, the seller is required to give you the license key along with the software.

2. But since they didn't....
If you can retrieve the key, you can download the official Windows 7 ISO file from here:
http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/

Install, and activate with your key.
If it works and is not used elsewhere.

It wasnt exactly a high end pc shop so i wasnt expecting anything like it, i didnt know it was required thanks for the fast response. If i download the iso and you the product key using keyFinder and it does not work what will happen? im kinda scared my PC will be unusable & i have no cash to buy anything atm.

If it won't activate, it will say "Not genuine".

And your functionality will be limited. In which case either you call Microsoft and see if you can activate over the phone, or buy a valid copy.

But if this came from a shop....they are required to provide the license key. And they know this.

Dont forget to mention you gotta make sure your system is 64 bit capable. If you have a really really old system, it's probably incapable of 64 bit, so if I were you, I'd post the specs of your computer just to make sure it can run 64 bit.

That settles it then. Do you have a 4 gig USB drive? You can install a Windows installer on that using Windows 7 DVD Download Tool or Universal USB Installer, and installing via USB is much quicker than with a DVD. That's in case you dont end up falling through with USAFRet's advice.

Is the USB way more safe than DVD Version? Because I have everything I need for the DVD way but I just need to hope this product key is genuine, anyway to make sure before I destroy my PC? i have a USB available so any way is good for me as long as it works

Half the time, the USB version is done with a ISO of the Windows installation, so you might as well stick with the DVD version, the USB route was just an alternative if the DVD ends up not working. I'm not sure where you'll get a legit ISO from without buying it (and dare I suggest you Linux but the inner curiousity of me is kicking me) but contacting Microsoft about retrieving a legitimate Windows ISO should yield positive results.

You download the one (Home Basic, Professional, Ultimate) that matches your key. What do you currently have on the system?

x86 = 32-bit
x64 = 64-bit

32Bit hence the reason for wanting to upgrade ^.^ Win7 Ultimate 32 Bit OS

+I Went onto MS website and found a Validate Key program and Its said "Because Windows installed on your PC is genuine, enjoy the security, reliability and protection it provides."

To give you some personal input, since you only have 2 gigs of RAM, upgrading from 32 bit to 64 bit wont yield much of a difference, the biggest noticeable difference between 32 and 64 bit is the removal of the memory limit in the 64 bit, since the first 64 bit processors finally began utilizing more than 3 gigs of RAM. The rest of the pros to 64 bit OS is in the processor itself, and the Pentium D is a 32 bit native processor, so I dont know exactly how well it will run it in a 64 bit enviroment (my research tells me it is only able to run a 64 bit enviroment through emulation).
