ClearType is Microsoft’s way to make text easier to read on any display. Whether you use LCD, LED or even TFT, ClearType makes text sharper and easier to read. It also helps those of us who work at a computer for long periods of time. If you would like to use ClearType to make text easier to read in Windows 10, here’s how.

Use ClearType to make text easier to read in Windows 10
It is well worth running the ClearType Text Tuner when you install Windows 10 or when you buy a new monitor. It only takes a couple of minutes and can make a real difference to how well and how long you can read on that monitor.

ClearType sharpens text and smooths the edges, making it easier to read. The less work your eyes have to do to read something, the more you will be able to read without getting tired eyes. That’s why this process is well worth doing.

Here’s how to use it.

1. Type or paste ‘cleartype’ into the Search Windows box.
2. Check the ‘Turn on ClearType’ box if it isn’t already and click Next.
3. Tune all monitors if you use more than one.
4. Select the text example you can read easiest on each monitor. Proceed through the five steps until complete and hit Finish.

A quick note to multiple monitor users, the Text Tuner box will appear on the monitor it is tuning. Don’t be tempted to move it to a more comfortable screen as it will only confuse the app.
