How to use monitor audio without using VGA

I'm having a big problem. I recently bought a new monitor and it only contains 2 HDMI ports and 1 VGA port with 1 input jack and 1 output jack. The output jack on the monitor only works with VGA but I'm wanting it to work with HDMI, is there anyway? I want to use the monitor as my center audio.

My PC is 8 Channel, I tried using a line in jack with the input jack on the monitor but it didn't work.

What you are wanting to do will not work as the monitor does not contain anything to convert digital to analog audio inputs/outputs.

What exactly are you trying to hook together as there is probably an easier way.

HDMI carries audio so you can use that for audio but if you're not hearing it something is wrong, it should carry the audio but VGA doesn't carry sound so you would have to get an audio jack if you want to use VGA
