I want to play at least on High and around 40-50FPS consistent in all areas (except for globally badly optimized spots that everyone will post about). Will I be able to? I preemptively bought the PS4 Pro version because I didn't think it would look that good on low, and didn't think I'd be able to make it all the way to high and also I didn't want to run it at 30FPS unless it was the console version. To this day I struggle with Last Light on the highest settings.

If the released requirements are accurate, there's no way you'll be able to run any part of the game on High settings because it says you need W10, 8700k or equivalent, at the very least a GTX 1080, 8GB VRAM, and Dx12.

With your spec you may have to start on Medium, but should be able to achieve your desired FPS. Here's the closest spec I could find to yours. At the 9:06 mark it's running on 1080p Med. Still looks pretty good though.

Just found this vid running it on a 970 with 6700k on Ultra at 1080p with Tessleation Off and Dx11. The 6700k is a fair bit more powerful than yours, but it does tend to indicate you may be able to push settings beyond Med to a mix of Med and High. It really depends which settings you're OK with, and what features you turn on or off. At least it shows you don't actually HAVE to use a full High or more preset, which requires Dx12 being on, something W7 can't do.

This conclusion page of Guru3D's performance testing is encouraging. It claims any GPU with up to 4GB VRAM can run it fine at 1080p, even at Ultra with powerful enough CPU (one notch below Extreme). Given a 970 doesn't really have a full 4GB, and you struggled with Last Light on Highest settings, I would try High, then drop whatever settings you need to Med if necessary. At any rate I'd buy it on Steam since they have a less than 2 hours played refund policy.

Thank you for this reply, sorry I didn't respond sooner. So my little overclock on my CPU doesn't really net me any performance gains for this game? I am familiar and at the same time not very familiar with OCing. What could you surmise the game would run like if my CPU was at the stock 3.4ghz clock instead of my 4.5ghz OC?
