HP Brio BA410 slot 1 empty

I just installed 2, 256mb memory strips, but only one is recognized. Memory scanners report slot 1 empty. XP reports 248mb, and that is because of the 8mb hp reserves for graphics i think.

The strips appear seated properly, and I could find not bios upgrades.

What should I do next ?

Please disregard this question. Reset cmos in bios setup, and 512mb is now recognized.

(didn't know if I could delete this thread.)
