HP buys Voodoo PC!

I think Dell and HP see this as a way of offsetting the cost of developing computers with the latest cutting edge technology, e.g., dual core and upcoming quad core, eventually DM3 memory, etc. Similar to what automobile manufactures are doing with in-house tuning, e.g., Mazdaspeed, Chrysler/Dodge STR, etc. Even if they don't make money at least the sales offset some of the cost of development. I also think it shows there is a market of high end computer mfg just like independent car tuners. I'm kind of suprised that, at least as far I know of, there are not companies like Vodoo that aren't concentrating on video editing and home entertainment systems rather than gaming.

The dont have business. They are a sticker on the side of an Antec case with overpriced products inside.

ROTFL

Obviously a person who has more free time than money :)

Voodoo makes a great product and all the elitist tinkerers out there are rarely getting higher framerates than Voodoo or Falcon. On top of that with Voodoo and Falcon you don't have to pay for anything that breaks or fails when you have exposed it to too much static and microfractures during the install.

G-Pa you are probably right about HP's motives to a point, though considering their recent market share problems they are probably looking to try and regain some ground as well, for HP VooDoo is a Quality name and comes with a great customer base.

For Voodoo its a win win strategy as they gain deeper pockets, and also muscle to get lower prices for components through volume in HP. Ohh also, Voodoo gains access to HP's Marketing Department :) that is a BIG bonus for them.

I was 1/2 being sarcastic.

And as for gpaw "I'm kind of suprised that, at least as far I know of, there are not companies like Vodoo that aren't concentrating on video editing and home entertainment systems rather than gaming." There are companies that build these systems. But they are not mainstream PC's and are VERY expencive. Ususaly the video editing card costs upwards of 3000$ alone. There are many comptuer systems build around the program AVID, complete with a custom keyboard and other tools. They are, however, macs. I know there are more, I just dont remember the names because Its been awhile since I have worked for a video editing service. Also, Sony sold their machines as video editing demons, complete with a firewire port in the front.
