Hi all! I just purchased an HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF to run my laser engraver, and was hoping to increase the graphics resolution mainly to watch movies, etc while waiting for my machine to do its thing.

I have the original 240W power supply, which I do not want to upgrade. Will an Evga Geforce GT 730 (Low Profile) work without any other upgrades? I don't even intend to play games, so I don't think the card will be working at its limit. The most I may want to do later down the road is set up a second display.

Thanks

Not brand new, it's a refurbished unit I bought through amazon.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

How old is the PSU in your prebuilt? If it's a brand new unit then you should be good to go...if it's used and has been in service since it was first released, then no.
I'm not sure on age, but it's a refurbished unit bought on Amazon. I can't turn it on until tomorrow, because the monitor I bought for it came with an hdmi cord, but not a vga cord (of course). The pc does not have hdmi, only vga and dp. I forgot to order a vga cord in the interim, but one will arrive by noon.

Thanks! I'll watch the video tonight. The hp support site had a list (a very old list) of video upgrades the 8300 will support, from it I ordered a new (new old stock? I doubt it's still made) Radeon hd 7450 low profile 2GB graphics card. I doubt it would offer any blazing performance in the gaming world, but hopefully it will suit my needs of getting better resolution with the added bonus of an hdmi output.
