I took apart an HP 2000-2b10NR to remove a plastic piece that broke free and was making noise. I had to remove the palm rest to get to it, but when I put it together it won’t turn on. No LEDs, fans or anything. It would post before I opened it but wouldn’t boot to Windows because the hard drive broke when the computer was dropped. I plugged in the ribbon cable to the power button, the battery and the charger but it won’t do anything. It should still boot without the hard drive right? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Solution
Sounds like you may have either damaged more than the hard drive, or you knocked something loose while in there.

I would suggest you have a professional look at it.

Thanks webworkings, I figured it out, it was the ZIF connector to the power button not getting a good connection, I absolutely hate those things lol. Again thanks for the help.
