Looking to solve an issue with my work's computer printer. Every time we print anything, there is a streak that runs down the length of the paper with what seems to be the current or past jobs. It isn't ink cartridge/toner related as the problem has persisted. http://
(Only site I could get for the moment to host the pdf that is an example of what is going on)

It could be fuser-related. Have a look in the back of the printer - you should just about be able to see the fuser rollers. If you can see toner/dirt stuck to the upper one corresponding to the location of the dirty band down the page, it probably means that the non-stick coating on the fuser film has worn out.

The fuser is a replaceable part (it's officially rated for 100,000 pages by HP although I've got a P3015 with over 250,000 on the clock and the fuser is still fine) - if you've got more than one P3015, you could try swapping the fusers to see if the fault follows the fuser.

If you're sufficiently daring and handy with a toolkit, it is possible to replace just the fuser film. It's a lot cheaper than a new fuser but it is quite tricky. You can find instructions and places to buy the film on the web.

If you buy a new fuser, make sure you get the right voltage version for your area (110V or 220-240V).

Thanks for uploading the second sample. I think I'll have to try and measure the circumference of some of the rollers in one of our P3015s during the half-term break next week to try and figure out which one is causing the ghosting (the distance between the repeat images will correspond with that).

If you've replaced the toner cartridge (which, of course, includes the imaging drum) then that doesn't leave much else except the fuser that I can think of.

Hello,

That type of streaking or ghosting is caused by the heat roller in the fuser assembly. This roller has a Teflon coating and when this coating begins to get worn down you will have some toner not released to the paper as it prints which caused the ghosting of the image further down the page. This is common after the printer has been in used for several years less if you print large amounts. The part number for the fuser is RM1-6274 and it is user replaceable. It should take about 30 minutes to complete the job for the first timer. Do a Google search for the part or check Amazon, there are several companies that sell it there.
