I don't know why hardware manufacturers like HP should force their users to use their own operating system... A possibility to have multiple OS would be just great, like Ubuntu Netbook Remix for guys like me or something more touchscreen oriented like WebOS for others. Really the OS you run is related to what you intend to do with your gadget, and I doubt that manufacturers know better than me what I would like to do with their system !!
It just reminds me HP trying to force using their users to run their own HP Unix and their own PA RISC CPUs... it turned out to be not such a big market success.

A lot of people thinks of a tablet in win7, but i don´t think it will deliver a good tablet experience. any os that is made especially for a touch device from the ground up would be better. I´d like to try webOS

[citation][nom]bungee91[/nom]Last I checked HP hasn't bought Palm yet, the deal doesn't close until like June or July.[/citation]

It may not be all stitched up but it's been approved by both boards. I'm fairly sure the Palm board voted unanimously too. Unless some regulatory body steps in and puts things on hold (which I don't see happening), then it's just a case of dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

I agree and don't oppose the buyout, the article is written implying it is all finished up and as they say it's not over till it's over! Especially in the tech world (think of the "slate" as an example)! Also I have read of a certain investor(s) against the buyout for whatever reasons (personally I can't imagine why, Palm hasn't looked too hot in a while) however things could come up.

Also and because you asked, Android FTW!

definitely WebOS. Android is a nice platform and now that it is a couple years into development it is finally smoothing out nicely. WebOS is truly revolutionary. I sincerely believe that; give WebOS the two to three years Android has had to mature and it will end up the dominating platform between the two. Real multi-tasking, intuitive, easy to use, and the most open platform on the market today. Homebrew has done wonders for the current WebOS users and as long as HP doesnt go and F that up, it will continue to be a defining component of the WebOS platform. I greatly look forward to a WebOS Slate/tablet; and have been since the early announcement of the iPad concept. A well made WebOS slate would easily steal away all of Apple's ooooohs and ahhhs as it would actually be a functional slate instead of a jumbo iPod/iPhone. Go Palm!!! Tread lightly and make it happen HP!!
