Question HP Notebook 15-bs158sa - can trackpad button be prised off?

Hi.

The LH trackpad button is wobbly. It functions - clicks - perfectly, but feels as tho' the return spring on the button's LH end has failed or become displaced, so the button falls low at that end, and wobbles and rattles a fair bit.

Q - can the button be prised off safely, without damage? If so, I'm sure I can effect an easy repair without having to open the lappie.

You're going to have to replace the entire palmrest module;

or find the same palmrest for cheaper and replace the buttons on said trackpad. In case you're wondering, look at the second image on the Ebay listing;

the trackpad and it's buttons are plastic welded to the palmrest.

Thanks - I did worry this would be the case!
I'm hoping someone on here has actually tried prising the button off from above, and can relate whether this is doable without damage?
If the trackpad was worn or faulty, then fair do's - I'd look to replace. But it's just this wee extra spring that's seemingly missing... Grrr 🙂
