HP OMEN 2016 worth it??

I found a gently used 2016 HP OMEN for $350. Would this be worth it in 2019? My desktop is currently an AMD FX-4300, 8 GB of RAM and a 750 TI SC, would this even be an upgrade for me? I don't really know a lot about laptops so I don't entirely know what I'm dealing with. I'd like to be able to play games on at least medium settings if not high.

Link for the full laptop specs: https://support.hp.com/us-en/produc...pc/10862325/model/11896381/document/c05164460

Laptop has also been upgraded to 16 GB of RAM

The CPU & memory on the laptop is better but your 750 ti is slightly better.

What is your full specs and how much can you spend for a upgrade?

That HP is decent for $350 and if you want something portable then it may be something to consider.

What do you mean by my full specs?
If I were going to upgrade my desktop I'd probably want to spend around $350 as well, it being portable is definitely a plus for me because sometimes I'm not at my house for a week or more.

Would there be another laptop I could get for around this price point that would be worth considering?

Since your away from the house the laptop seems like a good buy for the price. I know new your not going to get anything that good around $350, heck it wouldn't even have a dedicated GPU.

What I meant by full specs is your other parts such as the PSU but at $350 this is a solid buy. Also you could sell your current desktop and use that money to put a SSD into the laptop.

It seemed like a good deal to me. I'm just not 100% sure about the gaming performance due to the 960M, I know just about anything would be an improvement from my current FX CPU.

It's close to performance to the 750 ti so whatever graphic settings your playing at currently it will be a bit smoother due to the better CPU & memory. The biggest downside to the laptop is that it's difficult to swap out the GPU or you'd need to buy a eGPU/GPU setup but then it loses it's portability.

About an eGPU, I would definitely consider one to put on my desk at home, but I don't know how I would connect one to the OMEN, I know it doesn't have Thunderbolt 3. Do you know of any other ways to connect one?

You can connect it via PCI/e.

However. . . If you live near a Microcenter you can get the 1600 for $80 and if you have a good PSU then you could get the RX 570 4gb. The 1600/RX 570 would be a substantial upgrade over your current system and allow you to play newer games on med to high settings at 1080P/60hz.

Thank you so much, I will read over the article and try to make a decision. I am starting to lean more and more towards a laptop just because I'm not home often.
