If you have issues getting the video card to be recognized you may need to flash upgrade the Bios for MSI MS-7778 (jasmine) motherboard. Several HP p7 1000 series servers have in them you need to verify the bios and version of the motherboard. Warning make sure this is what you have before flashing the BIOS. HP has a BIOS for the HP p7-1447c that works for the HP p7-1297c as long as the baord is MS-7778 version 1.0. You can use bios from HP from this location if the video card does not work and you are getting a screen lock up either at or before the HP bios screen. board specs:
