HP Probook 450 g2 m2

Solution
The performance between a 2.5 inch sata and m2 sata are the same (perhaps because of the small m2 card that supports your laptop, you won't get a big or high end ssd' but even so, you won't notice a difference on day a day usage). In your case I would get a m.2 drive and continue using the 2.5 inch hdd that came preinstalled in the laptop. So you can get the best of the two worlds: ssd speed and hdd capacity.

[strike]According to Crucial upgrade advisor (or whatever the name is) the Probook 450 g2 only supports standard 2.5 inch SATA disks. You won't be able to use that m2 ssd.[/strike]

EDIT: According the Notebookcheck, it states a free m2 slot. Let me investigate a bit more to see if it is compatible.

Okay thanks so much!

Sorry to be a pain but are all m2 2242 cards slow at write speeds as this one seems to be compared to 2.5". I can't find any other m2 ssd. Where else can I get them from or are 2.5" ssd better?

Thanks

Hi,
sata3 m2 should have the same performance as 2.5" sata3 drives. It is normal that 120/128GB units have lower write speed. Usually the 2242 cards are low in capacity, so they have always low write speed. Perhaps you could get a 240-256GB unit in order to have higher speeds.
For example this one http://www.ebuyer.com/723574-adata-premier-sp600-256gb-internal-ssd-asp600ns34-256gm-c

Take into consideration that the main advantages of the SSD comparing an HDD is the way lower access times and higher random read/write performance.

Hello,

Sorry for late reply, I've just come back from holiday.

Would a m2 ssd be better or a 2.5 inch one. Will I notice speed at boot etc with the slower m2 than the full size 2.5 one?

Kind Regards
