I am starting my first rebuild and wanted some observations from the experts. I have an HP HPE H8-1160t with i7-2600 3.4Ghz. I am running Windows 10 and the HP bios don't allow me to make any significant changes. I plan to keep my 2TB hard drive. I plan to replace the following items to upgrade:
Intel LGA 1155 ddr 1333 micro atx MB
EVGA supernova gold 650 w PS
Kingston hyperex 16 GB ram pack
GEFORCE GT740 graphics
Does anyone see any significant issues with my setup or compatibility?

the compatibility is more a problem if you get a H67, because it could be that the video card won´t be compatible to it.

The 740 will bottleneck your CPU. Would get at least a gtx1050 or better a gtx1050ti

the 7x chipsets provide native USB3.0 the 6x chipsets just with a third party chip
these are newer and are more compatible to newer graphics cards and work with newer CPUs as well as "old" 2nd gen CPUs. No compatibilty issues at all here.

I use the computer for daily use but also some gaming: FO4 and the like. The Intel board is an H67, it looks like I need that to be compatible with my 2nd gen i7 processor. I was looking at the ASRock Z77 board but was concerned about compatibility. Thanks.

Thanks so much for the advice. I did note the Z77 was almost the same cost. I appreciate your response.
