[SOLVED] Hp scanjet 5300c troubleshooting

Have used this scanner with my MAC 10.6.8 but it suddenly erased the icon and computer does not recognize the scanner at all. The Apple store can't find any driver listed on your internet pages for this model; however, I have been using it continuously until last week when it disappeared. Any suggestions?
