HP Touchsmart update BIOS without booting into Windows?

Hi All,

I have an HP Touchsmart 610 all-in-one touch screen computer.

It normally runs Windows 7, however it has experienced an issue with corruption in the BIOS (at least a corrupt BIOS seems likely; otherwise it could possibly be a graphics card issue).

I now need to work out how I can update the BIOS without having the OS installed. Using the OS would be too risky, as shortly after Windows loads a BSOD occurs.

Can anybody point me in the right direction for updating the BIOS directly?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

Hi,

It may not be the BIOS; could quite possibly be a faulty graphics card, due to 'artifacting' on screen. However I don't want to purchase a graphics card unless I have ruled out other possibilities, such as the BIOS!

Thanks for you help. I think that your on the money regarding not being able to update the BIOS on this unit without Windows! I have however learnt that some latter HP models, which have the UEFI, do support BIOS updates without the operating system.

Kind Regards,

Davo
