I got an Hp Xw6600 with an intel xeon e5440 quad core 2.83ghz each. 4gb FB ddr2 ram, and an nvidia geforce 8800 ultra. I do not know why it still lags.. anybody got an idea? (it lags more when in forest.

It's a 5 year old computer. It's a workhorse not a powerhouse. The processor and graphics card were high-end at the time, but no more powerful than the high-end desktops. Processors and graphics cards have came a long way since then.

It also doesn't help that minecraft is quite demanding on your system. I know the vanilla server is now multithreaded (I think the modded servers like bukkit are still single threaded), I'm not so sure on the client. Do the right, or wrong, thing and it will bring todays system to their knees.

What should I do? I got it secondhand but i might be able to return it still....

I don't know the answer to that.

Something I had forgotten was that minecraft can get laggy when it's creating new terrain. It creates new terrain as you explore the world.

In fairness, it'll probably get away with a graphics card upgrade and possibly a memory upgrade. Something like a GTX 750 or Radeon 7770 (or what ever their new designation is for the card). If you decide to go for memory about the only place you'll get it reasonably is ebay, you're looking for FB-DIMMs.

I live in Canada, but i found some of the proper ram. I will see what to do.
