I have an old desktop school computer that I would like to turn into my new gaming rig. It is an HP Z220. It has 2 PCIe 2.0 slots, an Intel Core i7 3770 3.4 ghz cpu, and 16 gigs of ram. Would I able to install a new GTX 1080 ti into this old machine to make it good enough to play some of the more demanding games out right now (like destiny 2, and Rainbow Six siege)? I have just enough to invest into this new graphics card and a new psu to go along with it. Some people at my local Fryz electronics suggested I use the money and buy a new pre-built gaming pc instead, but the graphics cards pre-installed aren't nearly as powerful as the 1080 ti. What do you guys suggest? And thank you for the replies.

Solution
with pre built pc some of the newer gpu wont work unless there a bios update. you get hp logo and it lock up or you get a blank screen. most newer nvidia gpu need efi bios.

Go with the 1080ti and a GOOD PSU. The 3770 is still quite capable, no need for a prebuilt, unless it has mind-boggling specs.
