I have a Huawei notebook computer that my last school gave me before I left (I was teaching in China.) I would like to put a larger hd in it - only has a 500 gb drive now - but there is no model designation on the computer. I go into devices using msinfo32 and it shows me the model of hd in it, but how do I know what the largest drive it will support is? I don't want to put anything bigger than 2tb. It has an i5 cpu. It has 8 gb of memory installed. How much can I expand it to and what is the fastest speed? I would like to have at least 16 gb, and preferably 32 gb. I tend to go wild with tabs while browsing, and leave many programs open at one time.

Assuming you can access the HDD/SSD, is it a SATA or m.2 device? You should safely be able to exchange what you have now for a SSD of the same format (SATA or m.2) up to 2TB with little/no compatibility concerns.

Use CPU-Z (mainboard tab) to better identify your device.
