I just installed a fresh XP pro on my newly built PC.
Everything went fine, I used one partition for XP and I formatted the other partition for my data.
Then right when I try to install zonealarm firewall, my desktop crashes, a quick blue screen flash then XP restarts.
When it re-login, it stays only a few second on the desktop, blue screen flash again and retarts.... so on and so on.

Then I try to enter safe mode, but now the XP logo loading just stop appearing, even when I restart, the screen stays black...
I tried inserting XP cd to repair but the rom doesn't even read it!!

what's happening ?
seems like everything stopped working...

Now I can't even reinstall XP cause the rom stopped reading.

In the BIOS settings, everything looks fine, the computer recognize the HD and DVD rom/..

help ?

Obviously you have net access from some other machine.
I would suggest you down load Bart's PE builder and whatever plugins you think you may need and burn a cd.
Barts is an XP disk which runs from cd independent of the HDD .
You can get in to C: drive and format ,partition, clean out the crud etc etc.
and then you can reinstall. Sounds like maybe your MBR is screwed or your partition table but it may well be a poor cable connection so check them first along with any jumper settings. SATA cables have a habit of jumping off at inconvenient times! That's why they have now produced an updated connector with a securing clip! Also check that your memory is properly bedded in the slots and if so run a memtest. Again I would recommend a download of HIRENS CD which will boot and allow you to use loads of utilities from the prompt. I have seen it on the torrents but would advise caution if you travel that route!!!! I am constantly amazed at how many new builds suffer from poor connections and wonder if some of the super cooling systems don't produce just a little too much vibration?
Good Luck!

Sounds to me like you have a memory problem. Would suggest you post all the info on your system. Download and run Memtest to check out your memroy.

Zonealarm can cause BSOD with srescan.sys.
If you installed Windows XP SP3, it can cause endless reboots.
If you can get in safe mode do a system restore.
See if you can boot the XP CD and do a repair install otherwise.

i installed xp sp3 and had to reinstall because of endless reboots.
what worked for me was using the disk i burned form an image on the HDD manufacturer website (seagate in my case) and use the manufacturer boot cd to format your hdd. trying to do that with the xp install disk and then trying to install windows was a problem because the xp cd setup was reading my 320gb drive as over 800gb (?).
using the manufacturer disk solved all problems.
