Hung up @ "please wait - waiting for windows services etc

Hello,

my system - windows XP, is hung up at a screen showing "Please wait.....

then a runner back and forth

then waiting for windows services"

This has gone on for much time. I even did a reboot several times. I also did a few full disc checks - hours.

Whenever I restart, it goes to the disc check that has been scheduled, goes through that, then is hung up again. Help, please. HELP!

Try Safe Mode and Windows restore to date before getting the error.

Also, Boot from Windows CD and Repair-Install the OS.
