Hi everyone,

i am wondering if someone can shed some light on this, i have a ryzen 5 2600 so i found a good deal on a used 3600 so i bought it.

the only thing i noticed is the current section for the processor in the HW monitor jumps to like 80-90A even when i open a browser window.

first i thought it was me being worried for no reason but i just had to check so i put the 2600 back in and even on heavy gaming hwmonitor showed 30.14A max

why is the 3600 jumping so high even on a small task?

thanks in advance

It's not a problem...each CPU is handled by the BIOS of the motherboard with different settings. You really can't compare the 2600 and 3600 current draw due to design changes and different BIOS limits on voltage, current, and temp for the two chips.

I see that does make sense, I have two gaming pcs one with MSI MORTAR MAX B450M and the other with Gigabyte B450M DS3H rev 1 both now with ryzen 5 3600

what concerned me was on the MSI it shows like 30-35A when in use but on the Gigabyte (which had the 2600) the 3600 shows a 80-90A when in use. I was only concerned in terms of PSU mostly if the 500W psu will be ok to deal with such a high pike in current

very new to all this still learning
