Hi, Im going to be ordering a PC configured by me and Im wondering how to go about the standard intel CPU cooler and whether or not it is sufficient Im going to be using my rig mainly for video editing and minecraft gameplay recording with some mods etc, and im not sure whether it is more important keeping the CPU more cooler with the Hyper 212 EVO or making the video render times faster with the OpenCL on the AMD card, im choosing between the 960 and the 280x (the 960 with the hyper 212 evo) heres my rig: Many thanks

Solution
The stock Intel cooler is OK if you don't overclock, and it's not too noisy under sustained load either.
The Carbide 200r has a nice big opening under the CPU socket anyway, so if you do decide to add a cooler you won't have to remove the motherboard to do so.
Go for the R9 280X and stick with the Intel cooler.

Thanks for the reply, OK but wont the lifespan of the i7 be shortened if video editing and rendering and playing minecraft be affected by this if the CPU is under load what temps would I expect to find with the standard intel cooler vs the hyper 212 EVO

Better to use the standard cooler and the R9 280x. If you dont plan to overclock don't have to get an after market cooler (and since you aren't getting the K version can't overclock), the stock cooler for the i5 and i7 actually have copper plates so not that bad. And its alot easier and cheaper upgrading the CPU cooler later, then upgrading the GPU later on.

First thing's first, it's good to put your build in one pcpartpicker link so people can click on. Now, if you don't overclock your CPU, the stock cooler is supposed to be alright. If you do want to overclock your CPU and make it faster, then you should go with the 'K' version of that CPU, meaning: Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-4790K and also that would mean you getting a better motherboard, one of the Z97 series. To be honest, in my opinion the price on hyper 212 evo is kinda low and gets the job done, so it's worth it anyways, OC'ing or not, you will get nice temperatures.

The i7 won't get that hot. 65C max.

Thats a regular R9 280. 😉
