Hyperx cloud combo jack not picking up mic in laptop

Hey, i have an Dell inspiron 15 7577 that i just bought. I also just purchased the hyperx cloud core. It says that i can plug the jack straight into my laptop which has a combo audio/mic port. I plug the headset in, but the mic doesnt show up at all. I have installed the windows hd drivers instead of realtek which came with the laptop, and have disabled devices being shown yet nothing shows up in the recording tab of sound.

Are you sure that the jack you are plugging into is actually a combo input/output one? Just because the laptop has only one doesn't mean it is dual. It could easily be output only.

If it is a combo one, then you would need to contact the manufacturer to find out why it isn't working.

If it isn't a combo one, then you will not get it to do what you are trying to get it to do as a microphone would never work. A great way around this is to have a USB to 3.5mm (or dual 3.5mm) adapter. Then your mic and headset would work.
