I'm currently building my first computer, and the amount of RAM I want is around 12GB. Currently I have one stick of G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB, and I was thinking of adding a stick of 4GB HyperX Fury. Is there any difference between the two sticks? My motherboard has 4 dual channel memory slots. Basically I want to know if there would be any issues with the RAM since they're from different brands.

While it's never a good idea to mix DRAM (it's always a crapshoot if they will even play together (and this includes two packages of the same exact model#), here you are looking at the RJ Xs that run based off XMP (the norm and used by about 99% of all DDR3 1600 and up, along with the Fury line which operates off PnP rather than XMP. Also 12 GB is not a preferred amount. If the sticks play at will 12 GB, it will at best be in Flex mode with 8GB running in dual channel and the odd 4GB in single channel mode, which is additional stress on the MC (memory controller)
There may be compatibility issues... You must make sure that they have the same "specs". I am referring to certain things like clock speed, cas latency, etc... Do you have links for both the G.SKILL and the HyperX Fury?

Agreed, and this choice does seem to be incompatible. You might as well spend the extra $20 and get another 8GB G.SKILL stick (identical to the one you already have). Then you have dual channel 16GB.
