I accedentally changed so that insted of opening exe files normally i set it so that it tries to open through adobe acrobat

i was about to open a exe file and accedentally opened it with adobe acrobat and now a lot of exe files automaticly tries to open via acrobat too, this makes it hard to open.

Let me fix it myself

To resolve this issue, you can reset the registry settings to their default settings. To do this, follow these steps.
Click the Startbutton and type regedit in the Search box
Right-click Regedit.exe in the returned list and click Run as administrator
Browse to the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe
With .exe selected, right-click (Default) and click Modify…
Change the Value data: to exefile
Browse to and then click on the following registry key:


the following may not be required...

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile
With exefileselected, right-click (Default) and click Modify…
Change the Value data: to "%1" %*
Browse to and then click on the following registry key...

Solution
well they are opened by windows.... so dont really have a program.

i suppose you could click that and try "look online for right program" and hope it sets itself or set the source manually.... but i'm not sure if it would be explorer or some other windows service so i went with the known surefire way to fix the problem.

there is a virus that does the same thing... and makes exes unreadable so i've had to do this in the past (basically all i did was do the part in bold though and it works... the rest of it i think you can ignore)
 
once you have regedit open..

in the tab on left side you will see "hkey_classes_root" with a little arrow tick mark to the left. click on this to expand the list

then click on ".exe"

on the right you will see a selection named "(default)"

right click on it. click modify. type in "exefile" without the quotation marks. push okay (or whatever the prompt says)
