Using an asus x99a/3.1 and bought an cooler master evo 212 halo as the cooler while building the system small touches of the cpu cooler have made it come off partly due to that it is unable to use the back plate the board does not come with the 4 holes for the backplate to be used, was thinking of jerry rigging it with teflon tape on the threads to keep it secure either that or i ll end up getting a totally different board. Any thoughts?

Is this the cooler you're working with
https://www.coolermaster.com/en-global/products/hyper-212-halo-black/?tab=tech_spec
?
If so, there's no mention of the cooler having LGA2011-v3 support, you got the wrong cooler for your build.

Where are you located, how much do you have allocated for your cooler, what processor are you trying to cool, what is your case's make and model, the rams used and what is your preferred site for purchase?
^ Yes all those questions are relevant in narrowing down a cooler.
