I am responsible for creating a logo (which I've done), but need help finding the materials to make it look how I want it to. I know what I want it to look like but I am having a hard time putting my tongue on it. So here's my best shot at explaining it:

The logo is just one word, and it sticks out from the black background because it is in silver writing. It has physical height off of it so you can feel it. It is almost like a 3D version of a laser etching.

Please forgive my ignorance, I just can't figure it out, and will appreciate any and all possible solutions.

Thanks!

Yes it would almost look like it were printed, but I want it to be made of metal (with a silver finish). Could this be done with a 3d printer?

From that middle link:
"3D Printed Aluminum"

Well it will depend on the tools at your disposal. If this logo is a physical item. You could simply use 2 pieces of plyboard. One for the backgrounf and another for the lettering. Then glue them together.

The word you looking for is "extrude". You would like to extrude lettering from a flat background.

It needs to be physical, not digital. I think I might go with the 3d printing idea

Any woodworking experience or skills? You could use a wood router and remove some depth of wood leaving the letters raised (relief bias).

Not metal but easy to paint the lower part black and the remaining raised letters silver.

Probably not a beginner project especially if the logo is large and the use of long hand versus printed letters/font.

However if you are just doing the design and planning with someone else doing the work - then using a wood router may be an alternative to 3D printing.
