I am having a faster download over my wifi rather than my wired

I know this is quite a frequent question but through the ones i have searched through i have not found a working solution.

On my wifi i gain approx 40-50 mb/s
On my wired i gain approx 10-20 mb/s

I do indeed use broadband extenders for my wired however i have a friend who uses them and experiences little handicap as he is consistently at 70 mb/s

Now here is the spooky part, Last night i installed a program called TCP Optimizer and cranked up my connection to 100+ mb/s and it boosted my wired right up to 70 mb/s however i got home today, performed a speed test and it was crippled back to around 14 mb/s again and i cannot get it back up to what it once was.

Only thing I can think of is to try a new cable.

Can you take the extenders out of the equation by plugging your wired connection into the main router or gateway? If you get the faster speeds then you can focus on the extenders and maybe there is a configuration issue there.

Can you tell us the models of the equipment you have, starting with the modem or gateway, any routers you have and then the extenders and describe how you have the LAN cables plugged in?

I use extenders, So would that be a new cable for the router extender or the extender that goes into my PC?

I would love to tell you all that information, However i am not a smart guy, I can tell you my extenders are the BT BroadBand Extender 600 kit, I have an extender plugged in next to my router, An extender next to my pc an ethernet cable coming off both one being plugged into my router and one being plugged into my PC

Make sure the extenders are plugged into the wall and not to a power strip.
I use a similar powerline adapter (another name for those extenders) at home and it works great so you should see the faster speeds for sure.

I will give that a try when i definitely can, However with the layout i currently have there is little chance of me being able to pull this off, Guess when i am downloading something i will unplug my cable and go wireless, Weirdly enough my wired does indeed give me a better ping...Thanks for you help though

Not that it helps you, but I bought the ones with the pass thru power because I didn't have enough wall plugs, so I could plug it into the wall then plug my power strip into it... pretty neat.
