I am trying to extract data off of old laptop hard drive

I am trying to extract data off of old laptop hard drive that has been made into external hard drive. But my new computer will not recognize it. I have the PureX harddrive case and usb. The power comes on. I have checked to see if it is blocked by my firewall. Scanned for the device and found it but it will not let me intialize it so my computer can access it.
I have tried the drive on another computer that is running windows 7 and it will not link up with it either.

I take it you mean to say the computer will not recognize the drive. For future reference make the heading brief and type more details in the body of the message. Have you tried the drive on another computer? Did you put the drive in a drive enclosure or are you using a data cable or HDD dock?
