I recently tried to fix an old pc i got and I installed a windows 10 on it. It worked fine and I put the pc aside for a few weeks. Today I tried it again and it worked , but when I wanted to do a restart , it got stuck and started auto repairing. Did this a few times but nothing would start windows again . The first boot worked and I even games on it for 2h , no problems. The problem started when I hit the "restart pc" option.

Since I couldn't figure out the problem , I even did a full reinstall of windows 10. Gues what : It booted perfect , I playeda game for an hour , pressed the "restart pc" option and again , it wouldnt boot and started to "repair".

I dont know the mobo out of my head. I use a Ryzen 5 -3600 CPU , 1070Ti GPU and 2 sticks of 8gb RAM

What could cause this problem where a fresh windows install works on first boot but wont boot again when i use the "restart pc" in windows ?

EDIT : Seems I found the (weird) problem. The GPU has 1 HDMI , 3 Display Ports and 1 DVI connections. I was using the HDMI and the DVI. When I unplugged the DVI , PC starts and restarts normal. I tested the same screen (that was connected with DVI) but with Display Port cable now and the pc still worked good. To be sure , I used a third screen and tested first with DVI cable and than with Display Port. Same result.

Seems that the GPU has a bad connector (the DVI) and that that was causing all the troubles. I had red about people who had problems restarting a pc etc , but never saw any mentions of a bad GPU connector beeing the problem.

Please provide the complete system specs as the people here need to know the system hardware before they can provide diagnostics and a solution for you. thanks.
I posted an EDIT in the original post.

This can happen if you install from usb and the system is setup in a way that sees the usb as the first hard drive, in that case the boot files from the usb are used to boot the system and not the the boot drive.

As above but go to BIOS and set disk windows are installed on as Default BOOT device.
