I bought an Afterglow Xbox One Wired PC controller but Windows doesn't recognise it [SOLVED]

Okay so I plug it in and the RGB LED lights up but windows doesn't recognise the controller, no pop up to say installing drivers, I tried for two hours last night before giving up and going to bed, does anybody have a solution to get Windows to recognise the controller? Like is there a place to download drivers? If so a link would be much appreciated thankyou.

If you have windows original, he automatic get driver update.
And you have cd driver from your controller ?

So I plugged it in and nothing happened. I switched out the wire for an old phone charger and the lights came on. I then swapped back to the original wire and drivers installed and it works fine. Not sure why

Right I used my phone charger which turned on the LED's then I put the original wire back in and it installed the drivers, not sure what I did to get it to work but try it
