I built a new PC and my audio jack doesn't work, it's not detected

So basically the audio jacks won't work, the one on the case and the line out on the motherboard. I've been in the device manager and the sound playable thing and it's not there. It's like they don't exist. I've been trying to fix it for a week now but nothing I find online is working. I can play audio through my monitor but I really don't wanna do that! I REALLY hope someone can help me, it could be a hardware issue, I'm not sure. PLEASE help me 🙁 It's like the computer doesn't detect it at all, it's like the cable from the case isn't connected to the motherboard, I've checked and I'm 99% sure that it's connected properly and it's all the way in...

This says that your PC is default playing through the HDMI(?) connection. There is no way to change this? There is no multiple audio output you can choose? Are you using the audio driver from the Mobo vendor? (you should).

Clicking on the audio volume icon should give you a way to switch the output source. In Windows 10 the control is integrated right into the icon's fly-out - look for an "arrow shape" (chevron) at the top to the side of the audio source listed and you should get a menu which allows you to choose a different output source. In older versions of Windows follow the link to the Sounds section in Control Panel and switch the default audio source.

If the output still doesn't work, a sound card can be used as an easier option than exchanging the board.

It's not here, it doesn't exist. It's not in playback devices either. Also I'm using Windows 10 Pro.

Well there's a possibility there's some weird driver issue in Windows which you can troubleshoot by booting an Ubuntu boot disk. The latest version, downloadable as a free .iso image, should have up to date driver support. These disks support "Live CD" mode which lets you try the OS from the install image before you install. This can also be used to troubleshoot problems without touching anything on the HDD.

If all else fails, may I suggest the Asus Xonar line has some good sound cards at the lower end of it's range...

I ended up getting a headphone jack to USB adapter which works fine.
