Hello everyone. I just built a new pc and when I turn it on all the lights came on and everything seemed to be working but there was no display on my moniter. My motherboard debug lights say that there was no booting device detected or it failed. I am new to pc building so can someone help please?

Solution
From MSI, you need to be at least at the bios level -7B25v13 to support the 9400F (which has no built in graphics so your motherbd ports will not work)
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/B360-F-PRO#support-cpu

The original shipping Bios was 7B25v12 and the current version is 7B25v18

Your GPU slots do not get power from the motherboards 24 pin connector and you need to install the correct 12v power lead to the correct connector for whichever slot your GPU is in.

You also have Debug LED's to help you determine where the issue is.

This is all covered in your manual in case you didn't get one...
Did you get a POST screen to display or nothing at all?
Also there will probably be a an hdmi or display port on the motherboard io as well as your graphics card make sure you are plugged into the graphics card NOT the motherboard.

I got nothing at all and the hdmi cable was plugged into the motherboard

Im guessing you have gpu so try plugging the hdmi into it instead and restart
if that doesnt work list your specs

I tried with the hdmi connected to the GPU but that didn't work so here are my specs:

cpu -
Intel Core i5 9400F 6 Core LGA1151 2.9GHz CPU Processor

HDD -
Seagate Barracuda 1TB ST1000DM010 3.5in Hard Drive

SSD -
Gigabyte 240GB 2.5in SATA 3 SSD (GP-GSTFS31240GNTD)

PSU -
Cooler Master 650W MWE 80+ Bronze Power Suppply

RAM -
Crucial 8GB DDR4 2400MHz Desktop Memory

Mobo -
MSI B360-F Pro LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard

GPU -
Asus Radeon RX 570 Expedition 4G Graphics Card

There's a good chance that your motherboard BIOS is not updated, and B360 motherboards won't support 9th gen chips without an updated BIOS. Unfortunately, you need an 8th gen chip installed into the board to be able to update the BIOS, unless the motherboard has a feature that allows you to update BIOS without installing a CPU. Your best bet would be to take the motherboard to a local PC vendor and ask them to update the BIOS for you. If he's a nice guy he might do it for free, otherwise you'll have to pay a small fee.

Thanks mate. I'm sure your right about this but on the website i ordered my parts from (umart) and the msi website it said that my motherboard supported 8th and 9th gen intel cores.

When asking for help, include your complete system build list.

That's an AMD thing - not an Intel thing. ALL 300 series supports 8th and 9th gen - that is their reason for existing.

Go educate yourself on that link, mate. It's very common knowledge that B360 needs a BIOS update for 9th gen Intel chips. Only Z390 boards support 9th gen out of the box.

In fact, lemme just quote that link here, in case you find it too hard to find the relevant material from the seven lines on that page: "Some Intel® 300 Series Chipset based motherboards may need a BIOS update to support 9th Generation Intel® Core™ Desktop Processors. "

Still just an "AMD thing"?

Not exactly, in this particular case as Shektron pointed out already, since the Core i5 9400F have atleast 3 diferent steppings, that motherboard may really need a BIOS update in order to work with that CPU.

Intel have this "things" and worst too. Just like AMD.
