I can hear myself through my microphone

I have had a new headset for a couple of weeks now, working perfectly fine, i use Slimdrivers to update any recent new drivers, i had a sound driver to update today which downloaded fine, later in the day i did an AV scan (AVG) and it scanned a threat which could be resolved after a restart and that is what i did, after i came back from the restart i could then hear myself trough my microphone. i have tried going into playback/recording settings and have looked through every single setting there is and im sure iv'e left nothing out, i cannot find a solution to fix this, i just don't want to keep hearing myself through my headset.

Normally this can be disabled by doing to your system tray, opening sound mixer and turning down a system volume (try various channels to see which one works)

If this does not work you need to go into the properties of your headset/microphone and find the playback setting and disable it.

I have tried that and yet i am still hearing myself, i forgot to mention i am also hearing a small clicking sound every few minutes coming from the left side off the headset.
