Hello,

I just bought a new PC which included pre-installed Windows 8.1. I cannot access BIOS, it just stays blank for about 3 seconds and the lock screen appears. Windows 8.1 is working fine.

I heard about UEFI, but there is no "UEFI Settings" tile in "Advanced Startup Options".

So how can I access BIOS? Any help greatly appreciated! :)

Consult your system manual for the key to press during startup that gets you into the BIOS/UEFI console. The most common ones are F1, F2, F12, and Delete, but your system manual will tell you what to press, and when to do so. If you can't find it in the manual, reply back with the brand and model number of your new system and we will see if we can track it down.

No manual came with it.
The items included in the invoice are,

Powerlogic Xenon Graphite 7 Casing
Intel Dual Core 3250 Processor
Gigabyte H81M DS2 Motherboard
Kingston 4GB DDR3 Desktop RAM
WD 1TB Desktop HDD
MSI N210 PCI Express VGA Card
LiteON DVD Disc Writer

So I don't think it is a branded one.
Can you help?

Thanks, but when should I press it? The manual says that the Gigabyte logo should appear when I power on the PC, but in my PC, a black screen appears for a few seconds and then the lock screen appears. So I have no idea about this.

Just start pressing it the moment you power the system on. While you're in there, adjust the setting for which slot it defaults to for video first. PEG (PCI Express Graphics) should be the one you want it set it to. That should stop it from simply showing a blank screen until you get to the Windows lock screen. It seems to be taking extra time to cycle through all of the other possible video options for the system before it gets to the one you're actually using, and by then, Windows has booted up.

The manual should tell you in the BIOS setup section where that option is located (and hopefully provide images to aid you in locating it).

I pressed "Delete" madly so that it almost broke, but no luck.

See the image. The same options appear in "Advanced Boot Options".

And btw, I too feel sorry for the delete key. Sorry, poor little guy! 😉
