I currently have the Linksys MR8300 Mesh router. I also have the Arris Touchstone CM8200 modem (a DOCSIS 3.1 modem, and I have a Gig down). I live in the US and Cox is my ISP. My modem is wired to the router and then to my iMac.
My previous router was the Linksys WRT1900AC V1. I had it wired the same way. With my previous router, if I entered 192.168.100.1 I would pull up my modem's UI. I could do this wired or wireless.
However, this does not work with the MR8300. When I enter 192.168.100.1 it just finally times out. At least on Safari and Chrome.
If I connect the modem directly to my iMac, 192.168.100.1 will pull up my modem's UI.
The strange thing is that after speaking to Linksys about this issue for a couple of weeks now, they had me try doing a hard factory reset on the MR8300. After I did the reset, I was able to access my modem with the router connected using 192.168.100.1. But that was short lived.
I decided to reboot my network (modem, router and switch) and after I did so I could no longer access my modem.
I would return this router, but it's rock solid otherwise. It hasn't skipped a beat in the weeks that I've owned it. Plus, I think that it is a firmware, not a hardware issue. What are your thoughts or suggestions?
