PLEASE HELP
I have a drive that is labeled as blue (primary partition) however it doesn't have a letter and is labeled as disk 1 partition 2, when i right click the drive it only shows up with the help option, ironically the help option doesn't help. it is a healthy but the only thing on the drive is a recovery partition. it says that the capacity of the drive is 488mb despite it being a seagate barracuda 500gb hard drive. i need to assign it a letter, so that the drive can be functional, any suggestions??
also how do i add images to a thread??

I have tried different Data cables in diffeerent slots, you can audibly hear the drive spinning up, so it cant be the power... the ONLY place on my entire computer where i can find the drive is in the bios, it doesn't show up anywhere else. But heres where it gets weirder, i used an adapter from sata data to usb and the drive showed up as an unallocated drive (in black) however when i tried to initialise the drive it informed me that 'access is denied' thank you all foryour time, hopefully you can help.

https://www.kingston.com/us/support/technical/downloads/90683

says it will make the drive IO unreadable under release notes. CHECK this first, without a doubt.

If that doesn't work, I would check DiskPart from an elevated command prompt (right click, run as admin)...Windows is stupid, especially 10.

dos commands...all followed by enter.

diskpart
list disk

sel disk [number]
assign letter=T
online disk
rescan
detail - (for info only)
list vol

NOTE: if T: doesn't exist, quit now

sel vol T
online vol
detail vol
exit

NOTE: Optional steps you can take before typing "exit"

sel disk 0
uniqueid
sel disk 1
uniqueid
sel disk 2
uniqueid

check each ID to make sure its unique for sanity sake...windows is horrible, i've never seen it but you never know with microsoft.

regardless of the above steps...you should be back in DOS
type...

T: (enter)

see if you get any result from that.

if not post a picture of the list disk results. Update should be your problem though.

I apologise, i clearly havent been clear enough, the kingston 120gb ssd (sv300) and the 1T hdd st310005255V are both fully functional, it is the 500gb hdd seen in the bios picture that does not show up anywhere except the bios. i should also mention that i have NO idea what was just said above and am confused to the highest extent. an open question that you are free to refuse... but... would sombody be able to go in a discord call and walk me through it?? thanks for trying :)

its basically the same thing as using the windows disk utility, so dont fret the DOS thing. I obviously speed read your question and replies. This is a weird one and my suggestion likely won't help. Let me re-read in a little bit and get back if I can help. I was rushing, don't want to do that again. I would suggest checking for firmware for that drive though. Sorry for the useless rant lol.

Edit: Do try swapping sata cords as well to one of the working drives (again, i'm not sure if you did), i was answering two posts at once.

Check your sata connection on the drive end, if they are bent or not flat...there's your issue, also your sata cord does not look plugged in fully in the picture (data, not power)

I have had certain format utilities make seagate drives entirely useless, did you use windows to format it?

i will check the drive connections now but in answer to your final question, no the drive is not formatted or initialised, it does not show up on the disk management tool for me to do so, when i used the adapter it showed up as an unallocated drive but my acess was denied for whatever reason.

I was just going to say it said disk 1, partition 2. Disk 1 is your 120 GB SSD.

These are my guesses as it stands...

Your drive is defective or damaged...it reminds me of exactly what happened when i bought a 500 MB seagate with a locked boot sector and couldn't format it. I needed external devices to find it.

Possibly drawing too much power with all the drives unlikely, but possible.

Try unplugging the default boot drive and using that Sata cord, and unplug the other drive as well to force it to be the only boot option.

Try installing windows on it (even if only temporarily), no need to register or anything...just see if it can format the drive.

If that fails i'd say you got a buster like I did. Did this drive ever work or is it brand new? Possibly from Amazon and stated as brand new? lol

I can't read those pictures...at least on my phone, mind typing up what the last one said? I can get the drift of the rest by visual.

EDIT: Like i said, i'm not too familiar with storage spaces myself, but I believe he's talking about the control panel/settings in windows 10...possibly 8, I avoided 8 entirely...and I don't like 10 lol.

you should be able to find it by typing "Control Panel" or Control.exe into Cortana or the Run box (Hold Windows Logo Key and press 'R') and setting your control panel to classic view (top right of the window that opens)

I have never even clicked on it, so don't ask me what to expect when you open it, but its definitely safe to do so.

yeah i know what he is talking about, the drive doesnt show up in the in device manager, and to dictate what the last pic said "your pc/device needs to be repaired"
"the application or operating system couldnt be loaded because a reported file was missing or contains errors. error code 0xc0000225 youll need to use recovery tools, if you dont have any installation medialike a disk or usb device contact your pc administrator or pc/device manafacturer."
