Question I cannot open League of Legends using the shortcut on my taskbar

Since yesterday I've been having a problem opening League of Legends from my taskbar. I keep getting an error message. I tried to reinstall, made sure that every user had full permissions, and did everything I found online, but nothing worked. If anyone know what I can do or know why please let me know how to fix this.

"D:\Riot Games\Riot Client\RiotClientServices.exe" --launch-product=league_of_legends --launch-patchline=live
or whatever drive you installed on

seems they updated recently and your install didn't make new shortcut - link - whereas others got two icons.

I do have both icons that others are getting.
The shortcut leads to E:\Riot Games\League of Legends\LeagueClient.exe
It's not the end of the world but when I click the new logo with the blue in it. It opens the old one and I don't want both league shortcuts on my taskbar but if I have too then I guess it it what it is.

I had the same problem, and after looking around a bit, I found a way to fix it!

Here’s what I did:
1. Press Win + R on your keyboard
type %appdata% and press Enter

2. Go to this folder:
Microsoft > Internet Explorer > Quick Launch > User Pinned > ImplicitAppShortcuts

There, you can delete the ImplicitAppShortcuts (or the whole Internet Explorer folder like I did)

After that, the broken icon disappeared, and only the correct one stayed 🙌
