Question I can't alt tab when a steam game is running.

When i open up a steam game i suddenly can't use any keyboard shortcut. I know my keyboard is fine because shortcuts work well when i close the game. Please help.

a specific game or all of them?

there have been many games through the years that do not respond to Alt-Tab.
sometimes pressing the Windows button will work in this scenario, sometimes you would be forced to run a windowed mode to continue being able to switch screens.

It's not just a specific game because this started happening only recently and the Windows button doesn't work either

so all of a sudden no games in your Steam library will allow you to Alt-Tab to the Desktop?

if so, it may be due to some Steam Overlay or something similar.
try disabling all Steam add-ons and any OSD.

and if you are running any of the games in Fullscreen mode try Windowed Borderless.

I don't have any add-ons and windowed borderless doesn't work. I also can't alt-tab at all while a game is on.

Do you have a keyboard that has software (ie corsair ICUE)? My keyboard disables most keyboard hotkeys that would close a game when a game is running.

I have a HyperX Alloy Origins 60 that has a software with Game Mode but i've been it's turned off.

This sounds like something is running that is blocking Windows shortcuts from executing when in game; just a matter of tracking down what it is.

The thing that's causing it might've been OMEN Gaming Hub but i don't know yet.
