I can't attach keyboard, mouse, and monitor to computer

I have 2 computers hooked up to the same monitor via different ports. One of them has a USB 1 cable attached and there is a free USB 2 cable. I plugged a USB 2 male to male cable into the second computer and the monitor and then hooked up the keyboard and mouse up to the monitor. I can use the keyboard and mouse on the first computer, but not on the second one that is hooked up with the USB 2 cable. What is wrong with it?

Does it work on second one when it's only one connected ?
