Issue: GPU Fan Control Not Working Properly​

I’ve been experiencing an issue where I cannot control my GPU fans using any software. I've had the GPU for approximately 3 years and have always used the official Galax software. When gaming, the GPU reaches high temperatures (up to 88°C), with only one fan activating—or sometimes none at all.

Steps I’ve Tried​

• Updated MOBO and GPU BIOS.
• Reinstalled Windows.
• Reinstalled GPU drivers using DDU.
• Cleaned the GPU thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol.
• Tested the GPU on another PCI slot.
• Used third-party software for fan control.

What I Discovered​

• On the first boot of the day, if the GPU reaches 80°C and I restart the system, all three fans begin working normally.
• The Hyperburst button (located on the back of the GPU) activates all three fans in turbo mode without issues when pressed.

• NVIDIA Driver: 566.14
• VBIOS Version: 90.04.86.00.37
• MOBO: x570 TUF PLUS-BR
• BIOS Version: 5021
• CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x
• OS: Windows 11, version 24H2
• PSU: XFX 650W GOLD
• RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x8GB, DDR4, 3000MHz CL15

what specific software have you tried?

if MSI Afterburner or Galax software do not work properly
and the fans sometimes fail to spin up,
the card's fan controller has probably malfunctioned.

you could attempt to disassemble the card and make sure the fans' connections are still properly seated.
if that had no affect, probably time for a new card.

PSU: XFX 650W GOLD

a large portion of the XFX units are very low quality.
it's even possible that this thing just cannot provide proper power to the card for it to function as it should.
include the actual model, an efficiency rating(gold, etc) means nothing in regards to a unit's quality.

if you have a reliable unit available, try that in it's place.

I tried Fan Control, MSI Afterburner, and Xtreme Tuner (Galax Software), but none of them allow me to control the fans. The fan control option just becomes unavailable, there is no other software controlling it

This could be my PSU but I don't think so because it was always enough even though it wasn't the best. The GPU performance is good but only the problem with the fans

appears you have a lot of options unavailable in Afterburner(voltage, power %, etc).

go through settings and be sure access is allowed to all user control options.
then while there try to set a custom fan curve profile and save it in place.

could be my PSU but I don't think so because it was always enough

and one of the major issues with lower quality units is that they begin to fail and/or cause issues with the system overall as time progresses due to wear & tear that you normally wouldn't experience with higher quality models.
