I can't download because it won't get past black screen

Laptop Inspiron Windows 7 computer won't get past the black screen so I can't do anything to get any driver updates...can I download from my pc and get it on my laptop without putting the download on my pc?

You are going to need to be more specific.

Is this a new computer or one that was working correctly? If it was working correctly what happened to make it not work correctly?

What black screen are you refereeing to? Is this black screen before anything comes up at all, is it after the Dell logo pops up for the bios but does not display a windows screen, is it after you have already logged into windows?????
