I cant get either Ghost recon advanced warfighter to run?

I bought both GRAW and GRAW2 from gamers gate for cheap,both are older gen games
and i downloaded them but they will not play on my PC?
I keep getting a message that says unable to proceed error 1257
and that i have insufficient privileges? must be the administrator when you run this program?
I AM the administrator on this pc? just like on the other 45 games i play on it?
any idea of what to do?

The issue has been fixed, i had to download the latest TAGES drivers to install these games.

Pardon me for resurrecting this thread, but I would like to add to it. i tried updating the TAGES drivers, but that didn't resolve the issue. I had to go through a long ordeal with Gamer's gate, Ubisoft, and TAGES to get it to work back in 2015, but I couldn't figure out what caused it to work.

I encountered the issue again and I think I figured it out:

I would get any of the following error messages when I tried to activate the game after installing it:

"error saving data: access is denied"

"Request refused by server: Activation limit exceeded with this serial number"

"Unexpected error (6)"

To solve the issue you'll need to follow the steps below:

1. Launch the shortcut in windows xp sp2 compatibility mode

2. Enter your activation code (It should already be pre-filled)

3. Click Next

4. If you received an error message OTHER than "Request refused by server: Activation limit exceeded with this serial number", then continue. You'll have to close out of the game and launch the shortcut again until you get either the "unexpected" error message or the "error saving data" message.

5. When you receive a prompt to manually submit an activation code, DO NOT click on the save button. Click on the hyper linked text that reads something like " GRAW - @ctiv.htm"

6. ****THIS PART IS TRICKY*** You will need patience for this step. You will be taken to a page to submit a request for the activation code. What you'll have to do is try to keep submitting the request over and over again until you are taken to a page that looks something like this:

The reason this step is tricky is because it may take dozens of tries before you actually get the code. You have to keep trying. It seemed as though using internet explorer helps somewhat. On most tries you'll get an error message saying the page cannot be reached. Eventually, you'll get the code.

7. There should be an open dialogue box for you to copy the activation code into. Paste the code into the box and click continue/next. You should get a message that reads "All operations completed, please click the button "finish".

8. Click Finish and the game will launch.

***Note***
For those who get the following error message:

E:\dev\graw1\trunk\engine\dieselx\source\utility\Archive.cpp(406)Cannot
list dir

You must have the game installed onto the C drive. If you don't, you'll get the crash error message. Also, remember to launch the shortcut in compatibility mode (Windows XP SP2). While you're in the properties "compatibility" menu, make sure to check the box for running the shortcut as an administrator.
